"Rocked the House"

On Sunday, September 25, 2011, 82 music lovers gathered at Blooming Grove UMC to enjoy an evening of song, fun, and laughter featuring the musical groups "The Bad Tangerines" and "Out of Grace".  The event raised $950.00 to benefit the Steele and Waseca County Food Shelves!  Numerous food items were donated as well.  We "rocked the house" and heard from representatives from both food shelves who shared valuable information about the needs in our community.  Thanks to members of both musical groups for generously giving of their time and talents.  Thanks to eveyone in attendance for their support of this important work!  "Out of Grace”,  from Waseca, is comprised of Randy Bennett, Michael Harvey, Muriah Miller-Keith, Brad Wendland, and Randy Zimmerman.  “The Bad Tangerines”, from Owatonna is comprised of Jodie Dekam, Michael Ferch, Tammi Ferch, Steve Klingman, and Mark Sebring.

On Saturday, October 1, 2011, 76 runners and walkers participated in the 1st Annual Blooming Grove UMC "Run 4 the Loaves" 4 Mile Run/Walk and raised $2,300.00 to benefit the Steele and Waseca County Food Shelves!  Utilizing both paved and graveled roads, through field of ripening corn and soybeans, the race began and ended at the church. Our 12 and under runners ran their hearts out!  Our "over 12" runners/walkers of all ages showed great determination in reaching the 4 mile finish line, with the Owatonna High School Cross County team setting the pace!
